I met Lawrence Fezile Mvula through happenstance and soon we evolved a filial Brotherhood. In Lawrence I found an honest, simple, unassuming, very knowledgeable and an unrepentant revolutionary.
Together we traversed borders and brought smiles to many otherwise faces. Not once did Lawrence disappoint in his zeal and commitment to this worthy cause. If there be one man who preached what he drank then Bambatta was that Person. Many were the times he was let down by his comrades and short termists but not once did he relent. Quick to forgive and never worried about speaking his mind Fezile was in a word, a rare kind of human being.
Lawrence lived for a cause and impacted on so many. Forever he will remain in our memories. In solidarity with our fallen hero let those of us who knew him, worked with him, were trained by him and had the privilege of walking besides him keep the fire burning despite the obvious challenges. Long live the son of Cape town. Long live Bambatta.

It is with great sadness to hear the passing of Lawrence today – I am out of words – he will be missed
